Pastor Jay P Henderson has been the Senior Pastor of the Burlington Flats Baptist Church since September 1992, and is a Graduate of Practical Bible College, Johnson City, NY. Full-time Ministry is Jay's "second" career. After four years in the US Air Force, Jay worked in the Quality control field of the Electronics Industry until he sensed the Call of God to Pastoral Ministry.
Jay married Teri in November of 1975, they live in the Church Parsonage in the Flats. Teri was born and raised in Edmeston, Jay also is a native Edmestonian. Teri is Teacher's Assistant in the Edmeston Central School system. Their two children are grown:
Carrie, also a graduate of Practical Bible College, after working for three years as a Principal/first grade teacher at a Christian Elementary School on St. John in the US Virgin Islands, and two years as a teacher's assistant at Edmeston Central School, is now the Director / teacher at Great Beginnings Preschool here at the Church. Carrie married Dion Peter December 2003, and they have two children, Deanna and Denzel.
Nick and his wife Tiffany, married August 2002, are living in the area, raising Jay and Teri's first grandchild, a son, Jacob Parker. Nick is a residential aid for Springbrook, and Tiffany is a Lead Teacher at the Great Beginnings Preschool.
