AWANA will resume September 12, 2005

AWANA

AWANA stands for II Timothy 2:15 "Approved Workman Are Not

Ashamed."  This is a nationally recognized program that meets here on Monday School Evening 6 pm until 8 pm.

The Burlington Flats AWANA Program engages children ages 3 years until 8th grade.  All children are welcome.

The night is broken up into 3 segments.  There is game time where points are earned for the color team a clubber is on.  Sportsmanship and competition is encouraged.  There is handbook time where each group meets with their grade level and works specifically on Bible memorization and activity projects.  Points from the Clubbers' color team are earned for each section passed.  Awards based on this are worn on the AWANA uniform.  And there is Council time where a Biblically based message is given weekly.  Second graders and younger receive their council time in ;their individual groups.  Kindergarten, first and second graders also have a craft time.

At the end of the evening, the color team with the most points wins a little prize.  Individual patches, charms, ribbons, are also earned on a weekly basis and received at the end of the evening.  AWANA encourages individual growth as well as working on a team.

Children may also participate in area wide events as they come up like Bible Quizzing, Olympics, and AWANA Camp.  In these events they compete with children from other local AWANA clubs.  We have enjoyed 5 years of presenting AWANA to our and have seen the benefits of strong Christian Education.
